Traction Man

Friday, January 15th, 2016

004We have had great fun with Traction Man this week.  We played in ‘messy’ sinks to help us with our adjectives.  We designed new outfits for our own Traction Man, drew settings and the Y1s acted out the next adventure with Traction Man’s new pet… and we filmed it!   Year 2’s wrote descriptions of their settings.  We are now ready to write our own stories!

Happy New Year!

Our new topic is I like to move it!  We started the week with our class book – Traction Man by Mini Grey.  As well as keeping fit and healthy, Traction Man uses amazing forms of transport on his missions.  The whole class designed their own jet-powered trainers and wrote instructions on the back explaining how each trainer works.

A busy December

Thursday, January 7th, 2016

December was action packed!  The children put on a fabulous show called A Tale of Two Birthdays and were a real credit to themselves, the school and their parents – well done!

They were involved in a mini project all about mincemeat.  They looked at designs and packaging, made mincemeat, designed and created the packaging for the jars and wrapped them for Christmas.  They learnt a poem all about mincemeat and hopefully enjoyed cooking with it over the Christmas holidays!

The children have made fantastic progress in their Rainbow maths, with every child in the class reaching the end of a rainbow and receiving a chocolate golden coin.  Well done- keep persevering, there are lots of rainbows to complete!

We were all sad to say goodbye to Mrs Evans.  We wish her well in her new school.
