London’s burning!

Friday, October 20th, 2017

What an exciting end to our topic!  On Monday we set all our 17th Century houses out in the playground and Ms McKenzie lit the fire in the bakery.  It was amazing to see the flames!

On Wednesday we performed our Fire of London dance to the Mummies and Daddies.  The Year 2s read out some of their wonderful writing and we ended with the song ‘London’s burning’.  What fantastic historians we have been!

5000m World Challenge

Thursday, October 12th, 2017

The whole school went up to  the field to take part in the 5000m World Challenge.  The Y2s did some really hard maths and worked out that each child in EYFS and Y1 had to run 100m and each child in Y2 (plus Henley) had to run 200m.  The children completed the challenge in relays – congratulations!

Writing with quills!

Thursday, October 12th, 2017

This week The Kestrels have had a go at writing with quills. They loved dipping the quills into ink and writing on parchment paper.  They looked at an extract from Samuel Pepys’s diary and copied it.  Then they folded their writing and sealed it with wax!
