Trip to Tewkesbury

Tuesday, November 19th, 2019

The Kestrels enjoyed a fantastic trip to learn more about life and houses in Stuart England. They visited a house that was older than the Fire of London and were amazed by how small it was and how many gaps their were between the floorboards! Nobody was very impressed with the straw mattress or the heavy clothes.

Later, they learnt how the houses were made. They used their problem solving skills to join pieces of wood together and then secured them with wooden pins. Collaborating together, they began the process of wattling and were surprised about how strong it was. It was really useful to see these techniques in real life as well!

Finally, everyone learnt about the sort of games that would have been played in 1666. They really enjoyed reaching their personal bests on the games and found them very enjoyable. Well done everyone for a fantastic trip! See a full gallery of pictures on the school website.
