Home School Week 6

Tuesday, April 28th, 2020

The Kestrels have continued to work hard at home this week. Oscar has been learning to play badminton and showed lots of perseverance to improve his skills. There has been lots of science going on with experiments using cress, studying plants and finding fossils. Some Kestrels have been cooking and creating some very cheerful pizzas. There has also been some very creative art work to make a fabulous rainbow and a colourful Elmer. Iris was also very creative after her scavenger hunt walk. She created Spider-bot! Some people have been finding out about animals and using their knowledge to write some super riddles. Well done everyone!

Corey has written a riddle. Leave a comment if you think you have worked out which animal it is.

I have 4 legs

I have a cute face

I am endangered

I have fur

I am white and black

I am from China I eat bamboo leaves

What am I?

Home School Week 5

In school, we have begun the week with some science. We have started an experiment to see how well we are washing our hands because that is so important at the moment. Then we learnt about forces before trying to protect an Easter egg from a fall. What a lot of fun!

The Kestrels have been busy at home with their new work packs. There has been learning in maths, gardening and science experiments taking place. Also, some people have been designing clothes, making dens, creating playdough and writing in German. What a busy week you have all had! There has been some excellent animal classification with a little help from the pet dog! See if you can solve the ‘What am I?’ riddles below.

This week, one of the Kestrels wanted to make a clothes scrub bag for a nurse who lives in Avening so they could put their clothes in after their shift.  She has been very busy and learning new skills to help support someone in her community. Another Kestrel made Easter bunnies and delivered them to his neighbours with some treats. Great effort!

Home School Week 3

This week in school we have been continuing to do PE with Joe Wicks and we have completed his homework. As well as reading, writing and maths, we have been getting the garden ready for summer by planting the beans that the Eagles started to grow as well as some peas and carrots. The carrots are going to be purple! We have also been enjoying the sun and playing in the sandpit.

It has been great to see everything that the Kestrels are doing at home. Freddie has been working really hard on his information writing and wrote over a page. Well done Freddie! Some of you are continuing to learn your Rainbow Maths which will really help you use your number facts when we are back at school. There has also been learning about space and cooking going on which looks really interesting. Great effort everyone!
